Saint Leo, Fla.- Lynn University’s fourth-ranked women’s tennis team sealed its 18th-straight trip to the NCAA South Region Finals on Monday afternoon with a 5-0 shutout over Stillman(31-5). The Fighting Knights improve to 22-3 this season and will face No. 6 Saint Leo in the finals at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6.

After missing the Sunshine State Conference tournament, senior Ioana Ivan returned to the court to pair with Valentine Confalonieri to win 8-1 over Litia Godinet and Carolina Barabas at the top doubles spot to put the Blue & White on the board first. The duo ranks fourth in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll with a 22-1 record.

Alina Jane and Kim Przeszlowski defeated Rosana Medeiros and Angela Corredor, 8-0, at No. 3 doubles to extend Lynn’s lead to 2-0. Rosalie Willig and Andrea Berkova blanked Nair Tolomeo and Gabriela Laguna-Leon, 8-0, to complete the doubles sweep.

No. 40 Willig put Lynn within one point of clinching the victory when she defeated Barabas, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Top-ranked Confalonieri won 6-0, 6-1, to secure the win for the Fighting Knights. Confalonieri’s record remains perfect this season with a 25-0 mark. Berkova, Jane and Przeszlowski were all leading their singles matches at the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively when play was halted while Aleks Vukadinovic was ahead 6-2, 3-0, on Medeiros at the sixth spot.

Lynn has won an impressive 16 South Region Championships in program history. Last season the Blue & White was defeated by Barry in the finals, 5-4, to miss a bid to the national championship for the first time in the Fighting Knights rich tradition.

The Blue & White has won six national championships, three of which were NCAA Division II titles. The winner of the finals will advance to the NCAA Championships round of 16 that will take place May 14-17, at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
