Volleyball Closes out 2012 Recruiting Class
BOCA RATON, Fla.— Lynn University head volleyball coach Lynze Roos completes her 2012 recruiting class with the signing of Chelsea Hanson to total three newcomers for the upcoming volleyball season as announced on Thursday.
Adding to an already impressive class, Roos finishes things off with a 5-foot-5 freshman defensive specialist out of Wimberley High in Wimberley, Texas.
“Chelsea [Hanson] will add depth to our back line and also bring some excitement to our defense,” Roos said. “She is a fast and dynamic defender, and she is a vocal leader on the floor.”
At Wimberley High, Hanson earned three varsity letters as well as first team all-district honors during her senior year. She also collected defensive player of the year honors to go along with an academic all-state accolade in 2011.
In 2010, Hanson’s high school team was a class 3A state finalist and in 2009 the squad earned state-semifinalist honors.
“She [Hanson] has a great attitude, comes from a strong volleyball background, and she is committed to bettering our team and program,” Roos said. “We are looking forward to the impact she can have on the Fighting Knights.”
Hanson also played for the Austin Performance club team and finished second in the Lone Star Regionals.
