Volleyball Rallies but Falls to Bucs at Home

BOCA RATON, Fla.- The Lynn University volleyball team fought back from a 0-2 deficit to Barry, but fell to the Sunshine State Conference rivals, 2-3 (23-25, 24-26, 25-22, 25-22, 11-15) on Friday night in the de Hoernle Center. The Fighting Knights fall to 3-8 in the SSC and 16-13 overall. Lizzy Raffa came off the bench to record a team-high 15 kills en route to hitting .355. Marissa Tandron recorded her 12th career double-double with 10 kills and 46 assists.
Barry won the opening two sets with ease, 25-23, 26-24, but the Blue & White would not succumb. Lynn rallied back in the next two sets to force a deciding fifth set. Raffa came off the bench in the second set and give LU the spark it needed when she produced six total kills in the second and third sets.
Lynn had its best offensive set in the fourth when they recorded a game-high 19 kills with only three attack errors. Raffa was responsible for seven of LU’s kills with a .417 clip.
Barry’s Laine Cielena had a game-high 18 kills while her teammate Jenny Trinidad had a game-high 50 assists.
Four Fighting Knights recorded double digits in kills while freshman Katie Knight had her fifth career double-double with 10 kills and 17 digs. Nikki Haben led the Blue & White with 19 digs while Sara Aloisio had a team-high four blocks.
