Volleyball Loses to Florida Southern in Four

Lakeland, Fla.- The Lynn University volleyball team lost to Florida Southern 3-1, the Fighting Knights hace not won in Lakeland since 2009. Marissa Tandron had another double-double in the loss. Lynn’s record is now 16-12 and 3-9 in the Sunshine State Conference.
Both The Fighting Knights and Mocs had similar stat lines in the opening set; however, it was Florida Southern who prevailed 25-20. Lynn had more digs (15) than their competitor (13) while only having one less assist. Angie Caple led the offense with four kills with Nikki Haben providing five digs and two service aces.
Lynn knotted the score at one after a 25-23 victory. The Fighting Knights had a game-high 14 kills in the set and used four blocks, all involving Sara Alosio, to tie the match. Along with her four blocks Alosio also had four kills, Marissa Tandron had 13 assists and Mandy McIntosh had six digs.
Florida Southern was able to retake the advantage with a 25-19 third set. Lynn was able to out-block their opponent for the second straight set but could not get a service ace, while Florida Southern had three. Tandron and McIntosh both had five digs in the set, while Claire Angelish and Strautniece both had two blocks.
The fourth set was another close one, but in the end the Mocs ended the contest with a 25-19 clincher. Caple finished the set with four kills and Angelish had the only Blue & White block in the finale.
Tandron recorded her team-high 11th double-double with 37 assists and 17 digs. Strautniece was one dig away from her third-straight double-double with a team-high 11 kills. Haben led four Knights with double-digit digs with 19.
