Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. – A day after making quick work of the Tigers, Lynn University’s volleyball team decimated the North Alabama Lions 3-0 in the South Region Crossover.  Brianna Cox did it all for the Fighting Knights, logging a match-high 11 kills and six total blocks to help LU improve to 12-8 overall.

Defense keyed the Blue & White to an opening set 25-19 victory.  Lynn held North Alabama (8-11) to a paltry -0.152 hitting percentage, forcing 13 attacking errors while also totaling seven blocks.  Trailing 12-10, a 5-0 run helped LU go on top for good and four consecutive errors by the Lions finished in the game.

The second set was Lynn’s best offensive output as it hit .256 as a team to pick up a second straight 25-19 victory.  Cox recorded six of the team’s 15 kills, Abbey Brokop picked up nine of her 18 assists and Michelle Jordan logged four digs.

Lynn never trailed in the game, using a 5-2 run to close out the Lions.  Cox tallied two kills in the home stretch while Lizzy Raffa contributed three kills in the final six LU points.

Game three appeared as though it would break the Fighting Knights and send the match into a fourth set.  North Alabama grabbed the early lead and would not relent.  Following a Raffa kill, UNA recorded three consecutive points to build its largest lead of the day, 14-10, to force a Lynn timeout.

Cox and Raffa blocked the first attempt after the TO, starting a string of 13 consecutive serves by Raffa as Lynn went on top 23-15.  Two points by North Alabama delayed the inevitable and Cox secured the 25-16 third set victory with her final block of the day.

Lynn held North Alabama to a -0.061 hitting percentage while hitting .135.

The Fighting Knights are back in action on Friday, October 26, at 7 p.m. when they host Saint Leo University at the St. Andrew’s School.  Fans can watch the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com.  Don’t forget to ‘Like’ us on Facebook and follow @LUKnights on Twitter and Instagram.
