Women’s Basketball Vazquez Concepcion Earns SSC Honorable Mention, Spot on All-Newcomer Team

Melbourne, Fla. – Lynn University women's basketball team would not be where it is this season without newcomer Paola Vazquez Concepcion. The Sunshine State Conference office released its 2016-17 ALL-SSC Women's Basketball selections, recognizing the junior guard, honoring her as 2016-17 SSC Honorable Mention player, as well as a spot on the 2016-17 All-Newcomer Team.

The Ciales, Peurto Rico native led the team to a 10-16 regular season. In doing so, she managed to lead the Blue and White in minutes played (32.8) and scoring. Her 14.5 points per game is good for fourth in the SSC. She was also a consistent shooter, finishing fifth in the league with a 39.1 shooting percentage from the floor. She managed to lead the conference in threes made per game with 2.8, and is third in the SSC in three point field goal percentage, 36.3.

The 2016-17 season showed solid improvement, going from four wins last season, to 10 this year. Vazquez Concepcion was a key for success, but next year she returns with Janay Williams, sixth leading rebounder in the conference, grabbing 7.5 per game and Jaylen Snipes, second in assists with 4.0 per contest, so the future seems to be bright.
