Women’s Basketball Comes up Short in South Florida Showdown

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's women's basketball team rallied from a nearly insurmountable deficit and closed the gap to eight points but eventually fell 79-67 to Florida Atlantic in game two of the South Florida Showdown.  Janay Williams logged a double-double and four Fighting Knights scored in double-figures.

  • Williams was one of three players to score 11 points while adding 14 rebounds.
  • Jaylen Snipes scored 11 points with five assists and two steals
  • Paola Vazquez dropped 11 points with seven boards and two assists.
  • Kelsi Fizer came off the bench to score 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting.
  • Sasha Cedeno led all scorers with 21 points.
  • Lynn shot 32.9 % from the field while FAU hit 39.2% of its shots.
  • The Fighting Knights outrebounded the Owls 56-47 and were even 14-14 in assists.


  • Williams was the only player in the game to record a double-double.
  • Lynn outscored FAU 42-32 in the second half.
  • This is the second game of the South Florida Showdown.
  • Lynn previously defeated Florida Atlantic 3-0 in men's soccer.
