James Martin was hired as Lynn University’s women’s swimming assistant coach on August 19, 2016. The Bristol, Conn., native comes to Boca Raton following a graduate assistant position at Frostburg State.

With the Bobcats, Martin assisted both the men’s and women’s squads for two years, helping Frostburg State to their most successful years in the pool.  Under his tutelage both squads logged their the highest place and earned the most points in school history in the Capital Athletic Conference Championship as well as FSU’s first-ever points at the East Coast Athletic Conference Championships.

Martin joined Frostburg State following a standout career at NCAA Division St. Bonaventure from 2010-104.  A team captain his senior year, he led the Bonnies to back-to-back Atlantic-10 Championships his junior and senior years while winning the A-10 individual title, and setting a league-record, in the 50-meter freestyle.

Martin also represented St. Bonaventure at the 2012 Olympic Trials in the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle. 

He graduated from St. Bonaventure with a Bachelor of Science in sports studies with a concentration in human development and movement in May of 2014. In May of 2016 Martin received a Master of Interdisciplinary Education with a concentration in kinesiology and counseling psychology.
