Leolia Jeanjean Selected SSC Female Athlete of the Year

Melbourne, Fla. – Lynn University women's tennis star Leolia Jeanjean closed out her stellar debut campaign in the Sunshine State Conference with the league's highest honor on Monday, being named the 2018-19 SSC Female Athlete of the Year.

Voting for the award is conducted among Athletic Directors, Senior Woman Administrators, Athletic Communication Directors and Faculty Athletic Representatives from each of the 11 SSC member institutions.

Jeanjean becomes the fourth female Fighting Knight to garner the prestigious accolade and the seventh student-athlete from Lynn University to be tabbed SSC Athlete of the Year. She is the first player in the storied history of the Lynn women's tennis program to capture the honor.

The Montepellier, France product piled up a laundry list of accolades throughout the season. She was named the ITA Senior Player of the Year, the ITA South Region Senior Player of the Year, the SSC Women's Tennis Player of the Year, ITA Singles All-America, ITA Doubles All-America, All-SSC First Team Singles and All-SSC First Team Doubles. Jeanjean also racked up a league-best four SSC Player of the Week awards.

Operating at the top flights for Lynn, Jeanjean closed out the season undefeated in both singles (21-0) and doubles (29-0). She took down nine nationally-ranked singles opponents and lost just one set all season, while her 29-0 doubles record sets a single-season program record for most total wins and best winning percentage.

Jeanjean joins an esteemed contingent of past winners from Lynn, including Jessica Bradley (women's golf; 2013-14), Dan Wright (baseball; 2008-09), Nicolas Boisvert (baseball; 2006-07), Aimee Murch (softball; 2004-05), Ross Lumsden (men's soccer; 2003-04) and Jannie Nicolaisen (women's soccer; 1998-99).
