New Orleans, La. – After running a career-best 6k time at the NCAA South Region Championships on Saturday morning, Lynn University cross country rookie Alexandra Jones has been named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region team.
A total of 398 student-athletes (200 men and 198 women) from 132 schools earned the distinction by finishing among the top 25 individual finishers at one of the eight regional sites across the country. Jones placed 22nd overall at the NCAA South Regional with a time of 23:09.26 at Holloway Park.
The freshman garnered All-SSC honors earlier this season after posting a 6k time of 23:39.48 at South Country Regional Park during the Sunshine State Conference Championship. Jones placed 11th overall at the SSC Championships to lead the Fighting Knights.
Jones is only the second runner in Lynn's history to earn All-South Region honors. Gabriella Wuyke earned the honors from the USTFCCCA in 2012 with a 13th-place finish at the event.
